Ina Taylor

Ina Taylor is a biographer and teacher. Her work includes best selling biographies and school textbooks.

Her first book 'The Edwardian Lady: The Story of Edith Holden', a biography of the famous Coutry Diary lady, was published in 1980. This became an immediate best seller and was made into a television serial. Ina followed this with two further biographies - 'Victorian Sisters' which was dramatized on BBC Radio 4, and 'George Eliot: Woman of Contradictions'. Having a particular interest in art, Ina went on to research and write illustrated biogrphies of three women artists: 'Helen Allingham's England', 'The Art of Kate Greenaway' and 'Helen Bradley's Lancashire'.

She has also held two writer-in-residence posts in Shropshire, acted as historical advisor to several television programmes and assisted the London auction hose Christie's with the preparation of their major Helen Allingham sale in 1991. Ina has also taken part in varios festivals including those at Hay-on-Wye, Ludlow and the Birmingham Readers' and Writers' Festival.

Ina Taylor was born and brought up in Odiham, Hampshire. She read English and History at Sheffield University before going into teaching.

Ina is married with one daughter and lives in Shropshire with various cats and dogs.
